Matthew 12 - What's Jesus Saying To Us?

SF Stagecoach, NV
Dear Brothers, Sisters, Prodigals and Unsaved,
Our Lessons in Matthew will always contain topics such as; Life, Healings, Miracles, Reproach and Deliverance. Throughout Matthew.  Today we'll learn;  His Word is telling us about; Sabbath Questions,  Lord Of The Sabbath and The Unpardonable Sin, Words Reveal Character, . The Desire For Signs, and Changed Relationships.
So hang in there, - Abba [God], does not want His children to have lack of knowledge, so Jesus told us what it's like in Heaven, so we can preach/live it on the earth.
Verse  NOTE: ALL meanings are from Strong's Concordance.
12:1-7    Sabbath Questions:
·       [Matthew 12:1-7 NKJV] 1 "At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 2 And when the Pharisees saw [it], they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!" 3 But He [Jesus] said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 "how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? 5 "Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? 6 "Yet I say to you that in this place there is [One] greater than the temple. 7 "But if you had known what [this] means, 'desire mercy and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless."
o      The simplest explanation to pay attention to, is that Jesus knew what He could and couldn't do in any temple or on earth.  Pay attention to His Word, not what man says, because it's not always a law, but an opinion.  Reread Verse 7 - what was Jesus trying to tell them?
o      Jesus is doing exactly what king David did [1 Samuel 21:5-8], fed hungry men from the grain fields of the priests   I don't believe the Pharisees were angry about that, they just wanted something to condemn Jesus and His disciples for, because they hated Him.  And to top that, it wasn't even a Law of Moses.
o      Jesus informed the Pharisees, that He was greater than the Temple, Solomon built.  I'm sure, they loved hearing that!  A man in a robe, no religious training, was greater than themselves.  It seems, whatever Jesus did, they always attacked Him and His followers.  But Jesus or those He healed always had an answer for them:....JESUS DID IT - IT WILL BE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN!
Ø     [Luke 13:15 NKJV] 14"But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, "There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day."  15 The Lord then answered him and said, "Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead [it] away to water it?
§       Healing is NOT WORK!  It's setting the captives free with Jesus' Words.
Ø     [John 5:10-11 NKJV] 10 "The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed." 11 He answered them, "He who made me well said to me, 'Take up your bed and walk.' "
§       Thankfully, the man didn't know it was Jesus, because He had left.  Sometimes, I wish we didn't have to pick up after ourselves on the Sabbath, or I'm glad, that anyone sick, who comes to church can ask for prayer.  They considered making the priests work on the Sabbath against the law too.  What good was their Sabbath to man?
§       Jesus let them know, that when they do what they tell others they can't, because it's against the Law of Moses - THEY ARE THE HYPOCRITES!  Abba [God] desires COMPASSION, NOT SACRIFICE.  Jesus has seen them do this - so now they've been warned to change their ways.
§       Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever - He doesn't desire anyone to suffer, when He can fulfill their needs anytime He wants to!

12:8-21    Lord Of The Sabbath:
·       [Matthew 12:8-13 NKJV] 8 "For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." 9 Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue. 10 And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"--that they might accuse Him. 11 Then He said to them, "What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift [it] out? 12 "Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." 13 Then He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched [it] out, and it was restored as whole as the other."
o      "Lack of Knowledge Kills My People" [Hosea 4:5]  No matter how much good Jesus does, they, the religious fanatics, are always trying to prove Jesus is against the Law.  Thankfully, He was there in the beginning - and knows exactly the will of Abba.  Jesus never had to look-up anything for HE IS THE WORD OF GOD.
Ø     [John 1:1, 14 NKJV] 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
§       So, YES, it is lawful to heal someone of the Sabbath, man is more valuable, than sheep.
o      [Matthew 12:14-21 NKJV] 14 "Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him. 15 But when Jesus knew [it], He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. 16 Yet He warned them not to make Him known, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 18 "Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, And He will declare justice to the Gentiles. 19 He will not quarrel nor cry out, Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. 20 A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory; 21 And in His name Gentiles will trust."
Ø     Smoking Flax means = [Smoking] to cause or emit smoke, raise a smoke [Flax] linen clothing made from flax.  So Jesus will not quench [stop] clothing that is smoking.
§       As you can see, some of Matthew 12:18-21 comes from Isaiah 42:1-4.  Another prophecy Jesus completed.

12:22-29    The Pharisees Rebuked:
·       [Matthew 12:22-23 NKJV] 22 "Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. 23 And all the multitudes were amazed and said, "Could this be the Son of David?"
o      Remember, in Matthew 6:22-24. we read what the EYE represents a lamp within our bodies.  Good and Evil, based on how you use it.
Ø     [Matthew 6:22 NKJV] 22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.
o      Jesus didn't just command the demon to leave the body, but that demon was capable of blinding a man and making a mute of him - all from one demon.  What demons could do in Bible times, they can still do today. Just because we cannot see their activities, does not mean that they aren’t there and functioning. Demons are fallen angels who followed satan's rebellion from heaven and are organized under satan's hierarchical levels known as our enemies:
·       [Ephesians 6:12 NKJV] "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places]."
o      Here are a few of the demons of the twerp [satan] who attack your body...
Ø     [1 Kings 22:23 NKJV] "Therefore look! The LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has declared disaster against you."
Ø     [1 Samuel 16:14 NKJV] "But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the LORD troubled him."
Ø     [Luke 4:33 NKJV] "Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice,
Ø     [Acts 16:16 NKJV] "Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling."
Ø     [Romans 8:15 NKJV] "For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
Ø     [Romans 11:8 NASB] "...just as it is written, "GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES TO SEE NOT AND EARS TO HEAR NOT, DOWN TO THIS VERY DAY."
Ø     [1 John 4:3 NASB] "... and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the [spirit] of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world."
Ø     [Acts 19:15-16 NASB] 15 "And the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" 16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded."  Because they had NO POWER in Christ.
§       In the New Testament, He doesn't give any to the people.  Because we have the Blood Covering of Jesus today - that forgives our sins.  But a non-Christian can be in a black-out from alcohol or drugs and a demon can enter their body.  It happened to one of my brother-in-laws, from alcohol.
o      Every tried to tell your mom or dad to leave their own house, because you want it?  Well I sincerely doubt they would leave, they may throw you out - but they'd stay!
o      Yet, this is exactly what the Pharisees were saying Jesus did.  Yes, Abba could have, but until Jesus' death and resurrection His power could only be used to fulfill the prophecies in the Word - He had to work within the rules [Isiah 53].
o      America and other nations are having a problem with the twerp [satan] trying to divide out countries - when a house is divided, the Word says it shall fall.  I'm praying for your country and mine - that the people will have a Holy Ghost experience, because only He can convict the world of sin.  That's why we ARE NOT TO convict anyone of their sin, the scriptures are very clear on this. "take the log out of your own eye first" [Matthew 7:5] and OUR GOODNESS is as FILTHY RAGS [Romans 10:5-18 and Isaiah 64:6].
o      I especially like the last part of verse 29.  We're told to CAST OUT THE TWERP - WE HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO BIND AND CAST OUT.
o      I've taught on this many times over the years, think about this, would you let a stranger in your house so he can take you TV, Fridge, etc., or whatever he may want?  NO of course not.  But as verse 29 says IF he's in your house, to get rid of him - bind him.  Personally, I also command them to go back to the "PIT" and not return - Always in Jesus' NAME.
o      We come in our house through; computers, telephones, TV's just about anything electrical.  So keep in mind to clean your house out weekly - I do!
Ø     [John 16:7-8 NKJV] 7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

12:30-32    The Unpardonable Sin:
·       [Matthew 12:30-32 NKJV] 30 "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather [souls] with Me scatters abroad. 31 "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy [against] the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the [age] to come."
o      Cursing today is terrible, I know most people men and women, would never use that language with their parents around.  But I've heard a 4 year old little boy use the "F" word to his little sister in a playground.  Guess where he gets it from?
o      It's true, a little boy is hardly accountable for a word that he doesn't understand, only heard and spoke, knowing it's a mean thing to say when he's angry, but...the adults know better and IF they only realized, Abba is listening to everything they say - would it make a difference?
o      Would you change your cursing if you knew God says you are not of Him?
o      At work, a couple of guys and gals used the "F" word, and I'd ask them if they ate with that mouth - needless to say they still used it, but not in my hearing any more.  A boss used Jesus' name in vain - when I walked by him, I said "Jesus had nothing to do with it."
o      Lastly, have you ever heard anyone damn the Holy Spirit?  I never have, but they do damn Jesus and Abba, but never the Holy Spirit, even to this day.
Ø     [Luke 6:45 NKJV] "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.  Also, [Proverbs 10:11; Psalm 14:1, Proverbs 21:2, Proverbs 24:12, Ezekiel 11:21, Ezekiel 16:30] just to name a few that refer to this scripture.

12:33-37    Words Reveal Character:
·       [Matthew 12:33-34 NKJV] 33 "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by [its] fruit. 34 "Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."
o      Notice, the first verse says "Either make" that means it's your decision to be good or bad.  Abba will not force anyone.  He already knows we're not perfect - PTL.  He chose Israel to be His and they turned on Him - especially those Levi's.  This is what they did to God's Sanctuary - YUCK!. [Ezekiel 8:1-8]  They were definitely NOT Righteous men!
o      Often, in the Bible a person is referred to a "TREE".  In this case a Christian is known by what fruit [goodness/evil] you have.  If you are speaking evil, then we're told you are a "Brood of Vipers.  How's that for name calling?  It's about as low as you can go [except to hell].
o      You may know in the world, what you or your family member may want, but is it good for them?  How can you know, if you do not know what Abba considered "GOOD"?
·       [Matthew 12:35-37 NKJV] 35 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
o      I wonder IF Abba would have been happier leaving mankind with only 400 words? HAHA.  According to the Word, these are the only words below we should use...
Ø     [Philippians 4:8 NKJV] "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things [are] noble, whatever things [are] just, whatever things [are] pure, whatever things [are] lovely, whatever things [are] of good report, if [there is] any virtue and if [there is] anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
o      If you are "meditating" on these words, then that should be the only kind of words you would speak - "out of the heart, the mouth speaks"
o      How many words do you think that would take out of your vocabulary?  All the extra you probably need to repent of.

12:38-45    The Desire For Signs:
·       [Matthew 12:38-39 NKJV] 38 "Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." 39 But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah."
o      Jonah died in the belly of the a large fish.  He was in that fish for 3 days and nights  You can read Jonah's story yourself [Jonah 1:1-4].  Jonah didn't want to go to Nineveh because he didn't want Abba to forgive them.  Why?  It's believed that Jonah lost loved ones there due to the rulers killing them.
o      Without a doubt, no man could live in a belly of a fish - no matter the size the fish was. Yet [Jonah 1:4] prayed to God for help, repented, and praised God. For three days Jonah sat in the belly of the fish. Then, God had the big fish throw up Jonah onto the shores of Nineveh.  We do have a God, who gives second chances, that's why He's waiting patiently for the prodigals return, to welcome them home [Luke 15:11–32].
·       [Matthew 12:40-41 NKJV] 40 "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 "The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah [is] here."
o      Those who repented in the Old Testament [OT] will stand up in judgment of those after them and will condemn them denying Jesus.
o      In the Old Testament, it often refers to hell and Paradise in the center of the earth [Luke 16:19–31]
o      As Jesus was 3 days in the center of the earth [Paradise side] and arose on the 3rd day, so Jesus and Jonah have much in common.
o      Can you imagine your Great- Great- Great- Great-Grandparents saying "Hey kid, why didn't you remember the story of Jonah and that the whole town repented and was saved"?  Why didn't you pay attention in your history class.  It's to late now...I'm so sorry you won't be in Heaven with us.
o      Finally, Abba knows what He's doing and who should GO and do His will - as I said before, Abba pre-ordained Jonah [meaning dove in Hebrew], was the one he prepared.  Never doubt you have a purpose in life.  A purpose Abba pre-ordained you for.  Ask the Holy Spirit, if you are unsure what your purpose is in life is.  He's been known to direct a few paths.
·       [Matthew 12:42-45 NKJV] 42 "The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon [is] here. 43 "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 "Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds [it] empty, swept, and put in order. 45 "Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation."
Ø     Who is the Queen of the South?  Who else, but Queen Sheba and after she heard, Solomon's Wisdom, and saw his riches - she had no doubt, he was blessed by a God above ALL GODS!  Egypt was known for various different idols, but after seeing what only one God could do - she was convinced our God will judge all mankind.  And as a Queen of Egypt, she would judge the generation and condemn it.
o      There is only one way to permanently remove an evil spirit.  By the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT - In Jesus' Name!
o      To keep them gone, you must stay in His Word - learning YOUR AUTHORITY in CHRIST!
o      Apply His Word to the trials in your life.  Bind them and trough away the key - if things are happening and they are not of Abba then it's the enemy.  By Binding and commanding them to go into the PIT and never return.  In Jesus' Name.
o      Keep your house clean.  Why do you think yearly the Jews have PASSOVER?  It's so the twerp, will pass over them and their families.  The literally remove ALL Leavening items.  Why?  Today, leavening represents the growth of evil to them - so they remove it from the house.  The also pray asking for forgiveness of their sins for the year.  Thankfully, we Christians are forgiven simply by asking forgiveness when we blow it.

12:46-50   Changed Relationships:
o      [Matthew 12:46-50 NKJV] 46 "While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You." 48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 "For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."
o      Jesus wasn't being rude to His earthly family, but letting everyone know that we [IF doing Verse 50] we too are His mothers, brothers and sisters.  Even while Jesus did His ministry on earth, He wanted us to know, that we are as important to Him as His earth family.  Jesus at the cross, told John look at Mary [Jesus' mother], Mary is your mother then reversed it so Mary knew John was her son.  Jesus wanted to make sure His mother was taken care of.  Never doubt Jesus LOVED His mother.
o      I know many Christians think Mary the mother of Jesus is more important.  But this shows, Jesus treats all humans the same, when we have a relationship with Abba - We're FAMILY.

I know these chapters can get long, but has it been better taking a few scripture [bites] at a time, discussing them in how we can put Abba first in our life and do what pleases Him?  To me, enjoying the cake is good [but overloading sweets can upset your sugar balance], but having smaller slices daily are more enjoyable - and lasts longer.  Let me know what you think.
My prayer 4 U:  Father, in Jesus' Name I'm asking You to reveal, to Your Children, how to think from Heaven's perspective, so we can release Heavenly solutions in our lives and to help others, also help us NOT TO LEAD with our headbut with the heart of JESUS!  -  In Jesus' Name - AMEN! and AMEN!

Blessing to ALL,
Sandy - The Lord's Servant
