Celebrate Mother’s
Day 5/12/13
(Even when she’s not so nice?)
Dear Father’s and
Children:
Is your wife or mother what the Bible says
in Proverbs 31:10-31? Have you tried to be a good husband or child
and you see no change?
Well… unfortunately until we get to heaven
none of us will be perfect, that’s why God has given us His Grace. But there are some Bible principals you can
apply to help her or any person you’re having constant; disagreements, stress
or just ready to give up on, that I thought you might be interested in.
Step 1 FORGIVE: Whether they are saved or unsaved, the Bible
commands us to forgive or we’ll not be forgiven (Matthew 16:14-15, Mark
11:25-26, Luke 6:37). I can’t speak for you, but
my name is not Solomon, who was blessed with all knowledge, so I’m still a work
in progress. But I try and forgive someone as
soon as possible, because I want to be forgiven for my goofs (sin).
That doesn't mean I
continue to take their hurtful words or actions, but it does allows the Lord to
forgive them and me when I pray, blessing them which opens the door for the Holy
Spirit to convict (unsaved) or call them to repentance (saved). It’s a spiritual battle and only changed by
His Spirit (Ephesians 6:12).
·
Luke 6:37-38 says, I’m not to judge or condemn anyone, but my actions whatever
they are, will be measured back to me in abundance.
·
John 20:22-23 says, with the Holy Spirit if I forgive them, the Lord will forgive
them, but if I don’t, the sin is retained.
That’s why these steps are so important.
·
2 Corinthians 2:10-11
says, it’s Christ’s desire to forgive them for your sake; lest satan should get
an advantage over us. Personally, I have
no intention of giving the enemy a foothold which can develop into a stronghold
in my life or anyone else’s.
So the bottom line is this -
unless you forgive them no change will ever happen and the enemy wins.
Step 2 READ/SPEAK: Proverbs
31:10-31 tells us what a Godly Wife and Mother was created to be. Unfortunately many of us fall short, but
there is help. Read these versus and
where your wife, mother or you need help, start blessing them in what God has
called them to be, instead of what the devil has turned them into. Before long you’ll start seeing a change, for
God will bless those who curse you (Matthew
5:44-45). This is not my promise, but
the Lord’s (Numbers 23:19).
Normally, I don’t study in
the Message Bible, but I really like the simplicity it brings, for us to
understand today. So let’s take a few
versus of Proverbs 31 and see how you can change your situation, by speaking
blessings over your wife or mother.
·
10 A good woman is hard to
find, and worth far more than diamonds.
Bless Father, in Jesus
Name I thank you for my (wife/mother) that You brought me. She is your daughter and has great
value. I ask you to bless us both, to do
Your works and impart your gift of love and forgiveness to both of us.
·
12 Never spiteful, she treats
him generously all her life long.
Bless Father, in Jesus
Name I ask for Your forgiveness in responding to my (wife/mother) in spiteful
ways. I ask that you would place in both
our hearts, to be generous to each other all the days of our lives.
· 15 She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast for
her family and organizing her day.
· 17 First thing in the morning, she dresses for
work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
Bless Father, in Jesus
Name I thank you for my (wife/mother). I
know You only give good gifts to your children, so I thank You for all the time
she spends on making our house a home, manifesting her love for all of us. Cover her with the Blood of Jesus, blessing
her in peace and joy, while strengthening her to accomplish all she does for
me.
· 26 When she speaks she has something worthwhile
to say, and she always says it kindly.
· 28 Her children respect and bless her; her
husband joins in with words of praise:
Bless Father, in Jesus
Name I ask for forgiveness in ignoring my (wife/mother) in what she says. She is a child of Yours and her purpose is to
bless me, which is the same as Yours.
Help me to listen and communicate with her, while bringing wisdom to
both of us.
· 30 Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The
woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-GOD.
· 31 Give her everything she deserves! Festoon her
life with praises!
Bless Father, in Jesus Name
forgive me for comparing my (wife/mother) to the world’s standards, instead of
Yours. All that’s important is that we
live and walk in You. Bless our eyes to
see the truth, bless our ears to hear the truth, so I can praise and support my
(wife/mother) in all she does in You.
Although the Lord gave us
these words for women, I can see many could be concerning a husband or friend today. The enemy has the desire to divide us,
believing the words, “a house divided
will fall” (Matthew 12:25). So whether you need
forgiving for your actions, or to forgive someone – the blessings will
supersede what the enemy meant for evil and allow the Holy Spirit to come in
and restore any relationship.
Other scriptures you can
look at are; Matthew 5:43-44, Luke 6:27-28
and Romans 12:14-17.
Step 3 LOVE: The type of Love I’m talking about is not the
love of a man and woman or the love of family or friend, but the unconditional
LOVE of God in you flowing out to others.
Matthew 5:43-44 above is
pretty clear – love your enemies. Yes,
that’s what the Lord said and that’s exactly what we do when we pray for and
bless someone who’s wronged us. We open
the door of forgiveness and ask the Lord to help them in whatever they
need. That’s what God’s Love is – giving
of Himself and even His only begotten Son – Jesus to overcome anything in this
world.
Thankfully we don’t have to
give up a family member or die to show our love. We just need to love anyone enough to give
them to our Heavenly Father – in Jesus’ name.
1 Corinthians 13 is what’s called the “love chapter” because God
reveals what love really is. Read and
re-read this chapter. Ask the Holy
Spirit to teach you and remind you daily as you need it. Verse
3 says, “And if I bestow all my goods
to feed the poor, and if I give
my body to be burned, but have not love, it profiteth me nothing.” So L O V E is required in every part of our
lives, or no matter what we do – it will profit nothing in our Heavenly rewards.
If you are going to
forgive, pray and bless them, then you must do it in the love of God, who
desires we finish our race and that none should perish. Love is the POWER to reverse the curse and
covers all sins (Proverbs 10:12).
So don’t let the fact that
you are right and they are wrong stop you from allowing the Holy Spirit to
change them – and maybe you. Time is to short and hate is too destructive
(spirit, soul and body) to maintain.
Be blessed in abundance,
knowing that the Lord “wants to” reveal much to you in these latter days, to
help you through what’s coming – so fear not.
Your Sister In Christ
PS: This Mother’s Day, give
your Mom a big hug and tell her how much you love and appreciate all she does
for you.
