The Word of God is our first line of defense, though many may question this. We’re held accountable for what we know, speak and act, which you’ll understand by the end of this section.
Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
This is a 4 part study to reveal, through the Word (NASB), what the Lord has already given you, the weapons to overcome every situation. In Part 3, you’ll see the weapons you have available against your enemy. You just need to develop them.
Please read the Scriptures, confirm what the Word says. It’s mandatory we have the knowledge to overcome our circumstances; and all knowledge is in the Word!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2 Corinthians 10:3-4
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.”
The spiritual realm is activated by the Word of God. Even God created the earth and heavens by saying, “Let there be…” and it was, but that wasn’t all, He then told His creation, what to do and where to go. (Gen 1:1- 31). All the heavens and earth were created by the “spoken” Word of God.
Did you know, that with every prayer when you say AMEN, you’re saying, “Let it be” or “so be it”? So when we finish praying and say “In Jesus Name, Amen” you are actually saying by the power and authority of our Lord and Savior, let it be.
In part 2, we talked about how the authority of God was given to His Son (John 14:10-11) and how Jesus gave us the same authority – in His Name (John 14:12-14). We Christians have all authority to create signs of; casting out demons, speaking with new tongues, picking up serpents, drinking poison yet surviving and laying hands on the sick to be healed (Mark 16:17-18).
So here’s the question each of us must answer. When was the last time you used your authority to create any signs, or are your words being formed based on what you see and have, because of a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6)?
Isaiah 5:13 says that honorable men are famished and parched because of lack of knowledge. They lost the blessings, not because they were unworthy, but because they refused to gain knowledge from the Word. Jesus was without a doubt honorable, yet each time He was told what the Word said by satan, it was out of context. If Jesus had not known the Fathers’ Words, He might have been tempted or deceived by what He saw and heard (Matthew 4:1-11).
Another example could be Job 22:23-28 about finances. Job was complaining in Chapter 21. Yet, Eliphaz the Temanite responded “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.” In other words, you can complain and your circumstances stay the same or even get worse – OR – you can decree (speak) what the Lord said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10). You speak and create changes in your circumstances, with your words, when they’re in agreement with the Word of God.
Solomon, who was blessed with wisdom for the nation said; death will happen to those who lack instruction, because it’s folly to try on your own (Proverbs 5:23). Also, your lips can feed you and others or you can starve from not understanding (Proverbs ). Like Solomon, having the right answers (the Word) only works, when you apply – speak or act – on them.
Romans 8:9
“However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.”
The Word is so powerful, that it has conditions included. For the OT Jews, it was “Now it shall be, if you will diligently obey the Lord your God…” (Deuteronomy 28:1-14), but I must say, the rest of this chapter is a harsh life IF they don’t. For us, we’re not under the law, but FAITH, “IF you have faith and do not doubt… (Matthew 21:21) it will happen.
Why would a condition be placed on His Word? The biggest reason is to keep the enemy (satan) from creating or manifesting anything on earth. He’s hardly going to accept Jesus after all these thousands of years. The twerp may not doubt, what we confess will manifest on earth, but these scriptures stop him dead – because he won’t accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior – PTL! What he can do, is to use the unsaved to pervert what the Christians manifest or we’d be in a lot more trouble. So this is one reason why the Lord placed conditions on the promises.
I also believe it’s necessary for us to grow in the Lord, strengthening our faith, believing “nothing is impossible…” (Luke 18:27). That’s how He gives us the assurance to believe, and know that He’s a LIVING GOD.
Remember the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9)? God said because they spoke one language and were in agreement, “they would” have built the tower to Heaven. That’s why we’re told our prayers are stronger when two or more pray together (Matthew ). Not only that, but when one person prays, the Word says we loose 1,000 angels, but when two pray, they loose 10,000 (Deuteronomy 32:30-34). Our power becomes so great, “WE CAN” do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)!
All things are possible for us, yet the twerp’s only power is to tempt us and place obstacles in our path. All of which we’re warned about and told how to overcome in His Word.
The 2nd most important book I’ve EVER read is by Charles Capps, “The Tongue, A Creative Force”. Naturally, the Bible is first. But I can promise you that if you read this book your life will change, in ways you wouldn’t believe. You’ll stop canceling out your prayers with your words, and your needs and blessings will manifest that much quicker.
Christians believe the Word (Bible) is the truth; they just don’t have enough knowledge to stand on it. Can you honestly believe when you say “I can’t pay my mortgage this month,” then say “the Lord meets my needs” God can answer that? They cancel each other out! Most of us don’t even realize we’re doing it. That’s why this book is #2.
James 3:9-10
“With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.”
You really need to read James 3:1-10, for teachers will not be the only ones to incur a stricter judgment, but everyone based on what their words created.
Matthew 12:36-37
"But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Our goal is to “practice” to become a more perfect human, where our words will justify us, not condemn us. If a thousand pound horse can be controlled by a bit in its mouth and a ship steered with a small rudder, our minds can be renewed to speak what God will supply, and not what we have.
After reading Charles Capps book, many wonder what they can say. I’ll give you a hint, if it agrees with Philippians 4:8 it’s safe to speak it.J
When a Christian curses a driver, who cuts them off, they do three things;
1. They send (loose) a spiritual force to harm a person, made in the likeness of God – like you.
2. They increase the power of satan, since he feeds off the negative energy of humans and feeds it back to them even stronger.
3. According to the Word (Luke 6:38), the curse they spoke to the driver – will be given back to them.
Did you ever think ALL this goes on, in the spiritual realm, because of your angry words?
So you see the Word is true, one little curse starts a fire that the enemy turns into raging flames. YET… all of this can be cancelled out, simply by:
1. Asking for forgiveness from that person (if possible).
2. Rebuking those “curse” words spoken in Jesus Name.
3. Blessing that person, as you want to be blessed.
This is God making a way, where there was no way (Isaiah 45:2). The outcome; satan has no power to do anything to you or that person. Your blood pressure remains normal and you arrive at your destination protected and happy.
2 Corinthians 6:7
“in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,”
This scripture tells us, that the Bible (the Word of truth), is our power in God. What the Bible says is the right thing to do, no matter what the beginning (right hand) or the end (left hand) of the situation consists of.
So our weapon – IS our spoken words. When they agree with the Lord, they will always manifest goodness. I’m not saying you must speak “Thus says the Lord” every time you speak. I’m saying our words to that driver should be “bless him Lord”.
Another instance is FEAR of having cancer. When you say “my grandmother had cancer, so I could get it,” you just confessed your fear, which allows the spirit of infirmity (Luke NKJV) to tempt you with it. As soon as you say “I HAVE CANCER”, it’s allowed to stay and grow. When you tell someone it’s getting worse – IT WILL. All because you feared it – confessed it and thereby accepted it in your body. But you can reverse the curse:
1. Bind the spirit of infirmity (or cancer) and command it to leave, because you’ve been redeemed from the curse – in Jesus’ Name (Matthew , ).
2. Rebuke all cancer cells in your body and command them to die – in Jesus’ Name (Luke 9:1, Mark -15).
3. Confess you were healed by Jesus’ stripes (Isaiah 53:5) and you will live and not die (John , Romans ).
4. Never EVER again say, you have cancer or any other disease. You can say instead, the devil is trying to put _?_ (sickness) on me, but by the stripes of my Lord and Savior I WAS HEALED – therefore devil, I bind you and that _?_ from me and ask the Lord to restore what damage you’ve done! In Jesus Name – AMEN!
I’m not telling you to deny you have cancer or any sickness, but to disallow its right to exist in your body, which is the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16-17), because healing was already paid for by Christ, and included with your Salvation.
There are many landmines the enemy has placed in our paths, but with EVERY circumstance, God has provided a way to escape (Luke 21:32-36).
Proverbs 3:5-7
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”
During every problem or circumstance you’re in, if you’ll follow this scripture, the Holy Spirit will show you the way out.
1. Trust in the Lord - Believe in the Living God who loves you.
2. Lean not on your own understanding - the world didn’t create your body or pre-ordain you, to greater works than Jesus did - God did, so do what the Word says.
3. Acknowledge Him and He’ll direct your path - seek Him first, He’ll tell you what to do –it will work to overcome the problem and for Jesus to receive the Glory.
Matthew 16:19
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
The first important fact here is GOD SAID “whatever” you bind and you loose, He’ll make sure it’s done in heaven. In other words, IF you speak negative words He must allow satan to do what you speak. Likewise, IF you speak the Word, then He’ll loose His angels to manifest what you say. So whatever doors you open or close (Revelation 3:7), He’ll open or close them in heaven – good or bad, it’s up to you.
Again, we have a condition. IF you say “no way satan will I accept (whatever evil), then God will close the door on him. Keep in mind the reverse also holds true.
Binding and loosing doesn’t take faith, any more than if a stranger walks into your home and says I want your fridge and takes it. Are you going to let him? NO! You’d call the police. In the spiritual realm, you just need to speak “I bind you from taking my fridge” THEN God takes it from there. We’re fighting a “spiritual” force, within someone’s flesh.
Up to a year ago, I thought that’s all we had to do. Then the Holy Spirit showed me the next step…
Binding an evil spirit from you, allows it to go to someone else. That’s not good! In Mark 5:2-7, there was a man possessed, who seeing Jesus ran to Him and asked in verse 7, “…What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me." (NKJV). Many reference books like; Barns Notes, Calvin’s Commentary, etc., say the spirits knew their end, being tormented for eternity and thought Jesus would make them go to the pit of sheol immediately.
Through this the Holy Spirit showed me, that the demons were afraid, Jesus could command them into the pit immediately. So if Jesus could do that – so can we - in His Name (John 14:12).
So all Christians have the authority to bind, loose and throw that demon in hell. Guess who has the key of death and hades to let them out? Only Jesus (Revelation 1:18), which means they stay until He releases them!
Bottom line, we not only bind them from taking our stuff, but stop them from stealing, killing or destroying anyone else (John 10:10). With the added bonus we’re decimating their numbers – PTL!
Also, in the last 3 months, the Holy Spirit has revealed that what we “loose” is not just the “Good Guys” (ministering angels), but we can also loose blessings, favor, mercy, etc., on the saved and unsaved. Start loosing the “Good Stuff” and put your angels to work! Praise the Lord, for what He’s revealing in this time we’re living in!
Matthew 6:33-34
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Unfortunately many of us forget to seek the Lord FIRST. It’s not until after we’ve tried, in the natural and failed, that we finally seek Him. When we know what God wants, then we know what to do. Why some miss it, is that they worry about what they need next week or month. That’s a trick of the enemy and goes against what this verse and others say – one day at a time. Trust the Lord, He watches over the sparrows – how much more will he watch over you (Matthew 10:29-31)?
Seeking the Lord FIRST takes the burden (yoke) off of you and it gives you peace, to wait for His answer when needed.
Matthew 7:7 gives us the principals of how to ASK the Lord for what we want:
1. Ask = Pray, not the problem, He already knows what the enemy is doing, but pray the answer you need.
2. Seek = Get in the Word to see what you need to do. Remember, there are conditions to every promise.
3. Knock = Do the condition, so you’re assured you receive the answer. This is what builds faith - when the answer comes.
If I was bound, say in drugs, I’d search every word on “deliverance or delivered” in scripture I could find. I’d read at least the paragraph before and after that scripture to make sure I had the right context. I’d also look for any condition – and do it. Also I’d “meditate” (Joshua 1:8-9) on those scriptures, to give the Holy Spirit time to direct my path – out of that darkness. Finally, through out the day, I’d be claiming and praising God for His Word, which won’t return void (Isaiah 55:11), FOR NO WEAPON FORMED against me WILL PROSPER (Isaiah 54:17).
The Lord has a way for you to overcome (Revelation 12:11) every situation:
1. By His Blood – that’s your power over any circumstance.
2. By your testimony – the words you speak.
Ephesians 6:13
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
We need God’s armor to protect and arm ourselves from what the enemy tries to do. Ephesians 6:14-17 covers the whole armor of God. Would you be surprised to know, that even God put on the armor when He came to earth? Check out why He needed to in Isaiah 59:15-17. My sister calls it her superwoman cape, for it reminds her “…greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4).
To summarize Part 3, here are your weapons:
1. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4. The Word gives us our spiritual weapons through knowledge and actions.
2. Romans 8:9. Authority to use these weapons – In Jesus Name – Amen.
3. James 3:9-10. Your words create or destroy, because you represent the power of God on earth.
4. Matthew 12:36-37. You must act and speak the right way.
5. 2 Corinthians 6:7. With the Word, Power of God and your actions properly used, everything will work together for good.
6. Proverbs 3:5-7. Trust the Lord, not the world, – He’ll show you how to straighten everything out.
7. Matthew 16:19. Bind the enemy, loose the ministering angels and blessings, God cannot until you do.
8. Matthew 6:33-34. Seek God first, don’t worry about next week – He’ll handle that next week.
9. Ephesians 6:13. Wear your armor. It protects you from attack and gives you a sword (the Word) to fight with.
Here are a few extra scriptures for you to see – YOU ARE His Priests, with the same power the 12 and 70 had. We’re to increase our actions against the devil in these latter days, not let him have his way with mankind.
Luke 9:1-16
(Verse 1) “And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.”
Luke 10:17-20
(Verse 17-18) “The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." And He said to them, "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning.”
REMEMBER, the Holy Spirit has the authority to teach you; what Words to speak, as well as to release within you whatever spiritual gift you may need (1 Corinthians ). He’ll never leave you (Hebrews 13:5) – BELIEVE IT! Never doubt it – Trust in Him.
The devil knows the Word, better than most Christians. That’s one of his ways, to steal the Word and stop humans from learning or they’d know what authority we have over him today. Would you like others to know you have an OFF switch?
Watch for Part 4 – Using Our Weapons. How we use our weapons is important. I’ll give you examples through the Word of what to do in several circumstances.
